What is USF Denver doing to “Go Green?”

• Small blue recycling bins are located in each office area.
• We recycle:
  • Plastic bottles
  • Newspapers
  • Office paper
  • Water bottles
  • Cardboard
  • Aluminum
  • Glass
• Notes were placed above light switches to remind associates to turn off the lights when leaving the room.
• There is now a shrink wrap bailer in the warehouse that makes it easier to recycle used shrink wrap.  The bailer recycles approximately 2,000 pounds of shrink wrap per week.
• We completed a retro-fit of lighting in the warehouse, allowing us to use more efficient light bulbs and save energy.
• The control system for the ammonia, lighting, and battery systems is saving the facility 200 kilowatts per month.

• In 2007, US Foodservice - Denver donated $296,900 in product.
• In 2007, 150 turkeys at Thanksgiving and 60 hams were donated at Christmas to Metro Care Ring.
• $9,389 in charitable donations were given in 2007 to such organizations as Columbine Health Systems, Colorado Restaurant Association and ACF Colorado Chef's Association Educational Foundation.
• Employees donate $2 per week to wear jeans of Fridays and that money is donated to charities.  In 2007, $1,050 was donated to the Food Bank of the Rockies and $800 was donated to the Salvation Army.
• Employees donated approximately 60 gifts through the Salvation Army Giving Tree at Christmas.
• In 2008, we will donate to Food Bank of the Rockies.

  • Cleaning Products - Environmentally friendly service and non service chemicals.
  • Bread - Organic Rolls, Sandwich Bread, and Artisan Loaves.
  • Grocery - Organic Cereal, Pasta, Tomatoes, Hash Browns, Sugar, Flour, chips, and soups.
  • Beverages - Organic Juices, Vitamin Water, Coffee, and Tea.

  • Offers incentives to customers purchasing green products and to territory managers for selling green products.
